Tai Chi as a Way of Life
At Lunar Lotus, Tai Chi is a taught as a way to improve the way you live your day to day life.
My teacher passed down the belief that tai chi is a practice to enrich every aspect of your life.
You can take what we learn in the classroom to improve:
Balance while standing and walking
Falling in a safe manner
Walking and moving in a way to minimize impact on your joints
Using the breath to bring yourself into the present moment
As well as the multitude of health benefits that come from a tai chi practice:
Lowering your blood pressure
Improved cardiovascular health
Relieving chronic pain
Increasing bone health
Aiding recovery from a stroke, arthritis, heart disease and sleep problems
Classes are hosted at Sage Wellness Center
We meet each Wednesday and Sunday from 4:30pm-5:30pm, with an additional 30 minutes at the end set aside for community tea time. Each class begins with Qigong energy work, followed by “the short half” of our Tai Chi flow that connects the Qigong movements. Then for the advanced students we practice the final half of our flow and I answer questions and focus in on specific concepts. Then each class ends with a “cat walk” to practice balance and comfortable walking.
Classes are approachable for complete beginners, with room for advanced practitioners to learn something new every session.
