Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilgrimages
Tantra Yoga
In this class we will practice meditation, pranayama breath work and asana physical postures. These practices, combined with messaging inspired by ancient yoga teachings, serve to fulfill the true purpose of yoga- union. Union of the mind, body and spirit.
Each session is a sacred space set aside to explore the depth of your experience, to feel your emotions fully and to find a sense of peace in the present moment.
Tai Chi
I teach the Tung family lineage of Yang style tai chi. Tung family stands out from other lineages by being more “martial focused.” My classes emphasize wellness and tai chi as a way of life, but this martial focus shows up as using tighter movements than other teachers.
A class consists of warming up with qigong exercises to feel the flow of energy in the body, followed by practicing push hands with other students in a non-competitive setting. This is good for developing skills against a resisting partner. Lastly, we practice the Yang style 42 forms. Each student can expect a solid grasp on the “short half” of the forms within four classes.
Pilgrimage
I was born in Portland, and in my time here I have found many beautiful natural spaces. I take personal pilgrimages for spiritual growth, but there’s one place in particular that is especially sacred. A hike past two waterfalls leads to a secluded natural spring at the top of a mountain. I come here to meditate, bask in the benefits of being outdoors, and to drink tea from fresh spring water.
You’re invited to join me on this pilgrimage that I take every other month. The hike is accessible all four seasons, with a different type of beauty to admire in each one. We’ll reflect on what we experience through the hike, meditate at the waterfalls, and finally enjoy a pot of tea prepared with the fresh spring water coming straight from the mountain.
